If you search the map of Greece for Thassos airport, then you will not find it. The island is so small that the airport has nowhere to go, and why not to place it. But the nearby town of Kavala has an airport, but, unfortunately, it accepts only domestic flights and planes from Athens. Thus, from Russia direct flight to Thassos does not get - only with transfers to Athens or Thessaloniki. From Athens, you can take off by plane to Kavala, and then there will be only one and a half hour ferry to the island. From Thessaloniki to Thassos, get only on the road to Kavala or Keramoti, then ferry. A somewhat long transfer frightens off tourists that are used to flying direct flights and then by bus or taxi to go straight to the hotel. But I think, not so often we see new interesting islands and for the sake of curiosity and good rest it's worth spending extra hours to be where you really want to be.
