Tavern at the Amphitheater in Limenas Thassos

The traditional dish of the village of Theologos

The traditional dish of the village of Theologos

Mountain villages Thassos are interesting in themselves for their originality, it is in them that one can see that Greece, as it was before - without a hijack of tourism and tourist components. In such places, you can buy real honey and butter, with the condition of buying not on the main streets, where some businessmen got it, but in the houses of some residents. And in the taverns of such villages there are tasty roasted kids and lambs.

Ingredient

If you traveled Thassos a> on the car, then you are already aware of a large number of white and brown kids, walking around the island, where they wander into their horned head (sometimes they stagger along the roadway, or jump out of the bushes - only manage to go round). These goats feed on natural food, pure herbs and fragrant plants of Greece, without chemicals and additives. Stress again, they do not, because they live in freedom. And stress and absorbed food affect the quality of animal meat. Perhaps that's why kids and lambs are so delicious in the mountain villages of Thassos and are a crown dish, for example, in Theologos.

The Theologos Tavern and Chef

Already at the entrance to Theologos, you will see several ads along the road, calling in the taverns for testing their lambs at a price of 20 euros per 1 kg. Without having had time to enter the village, literally in the first house on your right hand you will be jumped by a barker in formal clothes in a cap with energetic gestures with appeals to stop, because of what you can take this person for law enforcement agencies and braked sharply. Even later you can figure out what's what, but it will be too late - you will be helped to park properly on a narrow street and almost under the handle will be escorted to the tavern. This tavern is called Augusto (this is translated into Russian). If you do not go to this barker and go further, then you will find several more taverns, which are roasted on skewers of goat and lamb, and coconuts are also prepared.

We recommend that you pay attention to a tavern called Lambiris. For her, cooks just a wonderful chef who personally will come to greet you and at the end of the meal he will go to the table to make sure you like it or not. Here you can order as a whole kilogram of roasted meat, or less. The first time we ordered a kilogram and barely carried our feet and told our bellies to the house, next time we ordered less - a pound. The chef for these polkilo chose the most selected and juicy ribs lamb, the most delicate part. In addition to lamb and goat, there is a delicious homemade wine. Who tried home wine, local wine in Greece, he knows that in every tavern it's different: someone will like it in this tavern, and someone will like it in another. The Lambiris is delicious and has meat and wine. To the fried meat order a green salad, and the French fries goes by default to a dish of meat. Before dessert, you are unlikely to get it, so do not order it from the beginning.

An interesting feature of this tavern is the combination of local workers, which, we believe, confirms the theory of delicious cooking in this place. As the chef himself, and his wife, and the daughter-waitress of fifteen, and even beckoned, rather well-fed and satisfied with life (at least in appearance and facial expression) people, it's a pleasure to look at them.

Tip

Your mistake will be to go to the tavern for a roasted lamb before researching The Theologos, at the beginning of the excursion through the village. After a meal, you are unlikely to move, so leave the tavern for a visit, after visiting all the interesting places The Theologos.
