In the main city Thassos, which is called, Thassos , or Limenas (in the "port" translation) there are many interesting places. These are the sanctuaries of the gods: Artemis, Hercules, Poseidon. This is the Archaeological Theater with exhibits from the excavations. This is an ancient Agora. But one of the most interesting places is the amphitheater, dating back to the 3rd century BC. This place is a platform for performances of actors and stone seats for spectators located in a semicircle. It is not so much an amphitheater that is interesting in Greece - large and small, as there is a magical place where it is located on Thassos. How to get to the Taso amphitheater
It is located in a pine forest and 2 ways. The most famous begins opposite the main beach Thassos and taverns. You will be guided by signs and signs, a good specially made road for tourists. There is another way, it is little known and not civilized, however, that's good. Photo of the "civilized" road (starts from the port of Limenas) and the ancient one (from the cape and the church with the tavern). Choose which one to go.   It seems to me that it was on him that they came earlier to the amphitheater, and it is possible that both paths were used - one for the audience, the other for the actors. The old road leads from the opposite side of the "civilized" road - from the sea. It is not asphalted, however, it is laid out here and there by an ancient masonry marking the direction. This path is steep, faster and, in my opinion, more beautiful. If you look back or look along the path, through the green pines you will see a turquoise sea. The sea Thassos is one of the most beautiful in this place, has many gradients, shades of green, blue and blue.
There is an amphitheater, as you already knew, on a hill. When you sit on the ground for the audience, you can watch a magnificent sunset directly in front of you. Watch how the sun sets right in the mountains and the sea, and at that time yachts and ferries float along the sea luggage. It seems that this action is for you. There was a barrack for builders and a fence limiting the movement of tourists on the site. How long will the construction work continue for the slow-witted Greeks? How much time will stick out like a thorn in the eye of a faucet, thereby violating the atmosphere? While it remains only to abstract and not pay attention to it. The amphitheater is well visible from the sea, when you swim by ferry to the island or from it.
