Thassos is not so often mentioned in the legends and myths of ancient Greece, as, say, Crete. However, Thassos has its own stories. For example, in the myths of Greece, Thassos is mentioned in the legend about the stolen Europe After Europe was cut off by Zeus, turning into a bull, the girl's brothers went to her search. During the search, one of the brothers was tired and decided to rest on one of the islands encountered on the way. This island has subdued the young man with its beauty so much that he decided to stay on it (apparently forgetting about his sister). This brother was called Thassos, after him the island was named. The second legend is known due to the works of Homer, namely myths about Odysseus . At that time the sirens lived on Thassos, sweet-maiden girls, enticing sailors with their magic singing and subsequently destroying their captives. Only Odysseus did not buy into their singing and that, thanks to an interesting way - tying himself to the mast.
